Tracy Branch Library
Monday, Jul. 6, 3:30 p.m.
This book club is for students in 3rd - 5th grades.  Students read a book at home and we then discuss the book and have a fun activity.  Books are provided by the library. Sponsored by Tracy Friends of the Library.

Easy Reader Book Club is for students in grades K-2nd grade.  A book is given to each student which they will read at home.  We will then discuss the book together and do an activity when we meet.  No sign-ups necessary. Sponsored by Tracy Friends of the Library.
Summer Book Buddies

Summer Book Buddies is a reading program for students entering the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grades who are reading below grade level. The program is help Monday and Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30pm at the Tracy Branch Library. Summer Book Buddies will begin Monday, June 8th and end on Wednesday, July 29th. Three absences may result in a student being dropped from the program. 

Students will be assessed at the beginning of the program using the San Diego Quick Assessment. Some students may also be assessed with the basic Phonics Skills Test III. Based on the assessments, students will be assigned to groups to work on the skills needed to improve their reading.

Sessions are conducted by teen volunteers and supervised by library staff. 

REGISTRATION
Parents may register children entering 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grade beginning Monday, June 1, 2015 in person, online, or by leaving a message at 209-831-4253. Fourty (40) children will be enrolled in the program; a waiting list will be compiled for those who are not able to register.

VOLUNTEERING
If you wish to volunteer pick up an application at the library. Training for teen volunteers will be held Saturday, June 6th from 1:00-3:00pm at the Tracy Branch Library. Teens are asked to commit to a minimum of 15 sessions. Sponsored by Tracy Friends of the Library.

Learn to be a pawn star at the library's chess club! Join us as Chess Master Richard Beale leads the club in teaching and understanding chess strategies. All ages are welcome to participate in the instruction and playing, which begins at noon, and runs until 2 p.m. every Saturday. The Tracy Library Chess Club is a USCF (United States Chess Federation) affiliate.
