Regina Calloway will provide and introductory lesson for researching African-American genealogy.  She will give an overview of resources, such as Ancestry.com (which is offered in the library) and explain how to begin searching.  All interested parties are welcome. Refreshments will be served.

Saturday, Feb. 15, 3:00 pm
A local group of musicians will provide a spirited demonstration of Afro-Cuban drumming.   It will be an exciting introduction into a long-standing tradition.   All ages are welcome.   This is a genuine toe-tapping event! Sponsored by Friends of the Stockton Library.

This event has been held at the Maya Angelou Library for several years during Black History Month.   The premise is simple.  Prior to the luncheon, people nominate members of the African-American community in Stockton for their outstanding  contributions to the community.   The ones chosen are honored for their accomlishments.
