The Mountain House Library Chess Club meets every Saturday from 3-4:30pm. The Chess Club is open to 8 year olds and above.  The participants will receive instruction and practice playing.  Resources are available to help with additional learning outside of club play. Equipment will be supplied.

This poetry contest is open to residents of Mountain House, aged 12--19, with library cards in good standing. First, second, and third prize winners will each receive an ebook reader and have their winning poetry on display in the library.  Poetry can be written in any form but must be the original work of the entrant and should not have been previously published elsewhere. Pick up an entry form in the library. Submissions will be accepted from April 1--30, 2017. Winners will be announced at a poetry reading & reception on May 9, 2017 at 6:00 pm. Want to meet a cute, live chick?  Want to learn how they grow from egg to chicken?  Join us for our Chick's Life Cycle program presented by Mettle Farms.  The program will  introduce all the stages of development and the delicate needs that mama hens are able to meet to make sure their chicks safely hatch. Class will include an introduction to live hen and chicks as well as proper raising and handling of incubated chicks. Stations with concepts include hatching environment, chick development, exploration of poultry breeds, colored eggs, and optional live chicken/ chicks.  Join us April 4, 2017, at 4:00pm.
