Make your very own roller coaster!  Learn all about friction, potential energy and kinetic energy as you make your own rollercoaster. We will be using pipe insulation and marbles for our materials.  How many loops can you put in your roller coaster?  How long can you make it?  This program is for ages 9-14 years old.  Bud Smith is a science teacher from All Saints School.   Sponsored by Harrison Memorial Kids Library.

Join Carmel architect Erik Dyar for a talk celebrating the work of John Thodos (1943 - 2009), the famed Central Coast architect who is recognized world-wide for his invention of seamless glass boxes as bay windows, Mediterranean influence, and open, simple, mathematical designs.  Erik spent 17 years working with John.  John was former Library Trustee.

Indie Author Day

Have you ever thought of creating your own book?  Join as libraries across North America host local Indie Author Day events on October 8th, 2016.  Harrison Memorial Library will host a panel of authors, booksellers and publishers discussing the process and best practices of creating a book.  Then, at 11 am a digital gathering will be available featuring Q&A with writers, agents and industry leaders bringing together the larger indie community.

Come explore just how much you can get into your black and white drawings using graphite pencils on paper! NASA Astronaut - Cap

Wednesday, Nov. 9, 7 pm

Join Astronaut Daniel Bursch for a talk about space.  Bursch had four spaceflights, the first three of which were Space Shuttle missions lasting 10 to 11 days each.  His fourth and final spaceflight was a long-duration stay aboard the International Space Station as a crew member of Expedtion 4, which lasted 196 days, setting a new record for the longest duration spaceflight for an American astronaut.
