Slimy Science with W
Monday, Oct. 22, 4:00 p.m.
Kids in grades K - 3, come put on your safety goggles and work in pairs to see chemistry in action!  Measure and mix ingredients to discover substances with strange and surprising properties: polymers called slime and gluep.  After performing a variety of tests to compare these two polymers, take a small amount of your gluep home. Sponsored by Friends of the Stockton Library.

Teen volunteers provide drop-in homework assistance to K-6th grade students in the Children's Program Room. Students should bring their homework assignments with them.

Sewing Basics Class
Tuesday, Oct. 23, 5:00 - 6:00 PM
Beginning September 11, 2018 the Cesar Chavez Central Library offers Sewing Basics class for teens and adults every other Tuesday (10/09/18, 10/23/18, 11/06/18, 11/20/18, 12/4/18 & 12/18/18) from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the MakerSpace room on the 2nd floor. In this workshop, you will learn the basics of sewing, including operating a sewing machine, threading a bobbin,and sewing a straight seam. Anyone age 14 or older who also has little or no experience with using a sewing machine is invited to attend the class. Equipment and supplies will be provided. Sign up is NOT required. However, space is limited to 4 patrons per class. This FREE program is sponsored by the Friends of the Stockton Public Library.

A FREE public parking lot is located across from the library at the corner of Center and Oak Street.  Sponsored by the Friends of the Stockton Public Library.

There will be no Preschool Storytime on library closed days. There will be no Preschool Storytime on Thursday, November 22.

Find Art Fun Time is for students to have fun creating art with whatever objects and tools are made available on the day. Your imagination is your only limitation.  Come surprise us with your inspired works of art! If you're bored after school and want to get your homework done in a comfortable environment meant just for you, and are in the area of the Cesar Chavez Library, come spend an hour with us!

Bring your friends to hang out, or stop by yourself.  Every other Thursday from 4:00 to 5:30 PM you can enjoy retro or modern console gaming, discussing your favorite comics/graphic novels/manga, streaming services, watching anime, and other activities.  (Free snacks and drinks provided by the library!)  Activities change every meet, and your input into what we do each time is highly encouraged.

A library card is NOT required, just show up and hang out. Sponsored by Stockton Friends of the Library.

Volunteers from the San Joaquin Genealogical Society are available to help with your family history questions.  The volunteers are at the Chavez Central Library on the first and last Tuesday of each month, 10 am til 1 pm.  You can find them in the Genealogy Section on the top floor of the Library.

Read to Rescued Anim

Harvest Home Animal Sanctuary presents Read to Rescued Animals! Young ones may be hesitant to read aloud to an adult, but feathered and furry friends make adorable book buddies. Read to and pet rescued animals. Bring your favorite book or borrow one of the library’s. Will your child read to a chicken, duck, guinea pig, or another animal? First come, first served. Come join us between 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. every 1st Thursday of the month. Sponsored by Harvest Home Animal Sanctuary.
