Beautiful You Mixolo

Teens and family,
  • You are invited to this special workshop Beautiful You Mixology at the Cesar Chavez Central Library on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at 3 PM. Participants will learn to make your own all-natural solutions while discovering how to beautifully shine using ingredients that make a natural lip gloss. Also, we will discuss techniques used to infuse oils with color and flavor properties. Anyone ages 13 and up is welcome to participate. Please register in advance (online or at the reference desk) as supplies are limited (up to 20 participants).
  • Don't forget to sign up for summer reading and check out other fun events at your local library. 
  • A FREE public parking lot for all library patrons is located across from the Chavez library at the corner of Oak and Center Street.

Storytime for all ages with stories, poetry, songs, and so much more.

Monday, Jun. 24, 3:30 pm-4:30 pm (Mondays, June 3, 10, 17, 24 & July 1, 8, 15, 22, 3:30 p.m.)
Mondays and Wednesdays through June and July, the Chavez Central Library will offer reading and literacy comprehension help for kids in grades 1st-3rd. This program was designed to assist kids that are already struggling to read at grade level to help them meet their grade requirements through small group activities and storytimes. 

Please be sure to enroll and take part in a quick assessment on June 3rd.
Chess Club

Youth of all skill levels are welcome to learn and play chess every Monday from 5:30 to 6:30 in the Chavez Children's Program Room. Join us for some fun and challenge your friends to a game.

Volunteers from the San Joaquin Genealogical Society are available to help with your family history questions.  The volunteers are at the Chavez Central Library on the first and last Tuesday of each month.  You can find them in the Genealogy Section on the top floor of the Library.

Preschool Playtime
Tuesday, Jun. 25, 10:30 a.m.

Caregivers, bring your preschoolers every Tuesday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Have lots of fun playing with friends new and old when we bring out different types of toys each week. Caregivers must stay with children.

There will be no Preschool Playtime on library closed days.

Secrets of Magic wit

In this interactive magic show, the magician doesn’t do any tricks! Instead, audience participants are brought on stage and to their amazement, they perform all the magic.

MakerSpace Special E

Tweens and teens,
  • Come design your own 3D object or learn how to create one at the Cesar Chavez Central Library on June 27, 2019 at 3 PM. Anyone ages 10 to 18 is invited to participate. Participant who creates the best 3D object within the time frame will be awarded with a $10 3-D printing voucher. Registration is not required.
